The Work
The Medium Is the Message
A photograph becomes an object in the printing. Each piece is made to order by a professional fine-art lab, in one of three ways — chosen to suit the image and the room it will live in. What follows is what is actually in each one, layer by layer.
Acrylic Face Mount
The photograph is bonded to the back of the acrylic with no air gap between them. Light passes through the panel, strikes the print and returns — which is what gives the surface its depth from across a room.
Chromaluxe Metal
There is no ink layer on this one. The image is printed in reverse onto transfer paper, pressed against a pre-coated aluminium panel at around 400°F, and the dye turns to gas and permeates the coating — so the photograph ends up inside the surface rather than on it. Scratch and water resistant.
Framed Paper
A pigment print on fine art paper, mounted flat and set behind non-glare acrylic in a wood moulding. It arrives ready to hang rather than needing a framer — the most straightforward of the three, and a photograph on paper presented the way photographs on paper have always been presented.
Open Editions, Made to Order
Open Edition
Every piece, every size, printed when you order it. No edition cap, no countdown, no reason to hurry.
- Hand-signed Certificate of Authenticity
- Posted to you separately from the print
- Acrylic, metal, or fine art paper
- Four sizes, 12" × 18" to 24" × 36"
Shipping & Returns
Shipping is included
Anywhere in the contiguous United States, shipping is free. It is built into the price you see — there is no delivery charge added at checkout, and no minimum order to qualify. A print costs what the page says it costs.
Prints are made to order and typically ship within four to six weeks. Your piece travels directly from the lab to you, unbranded, with nothing in the box naming the printer.
Not available through automated checkout. Carriers price these individually and we would rather quote you honestly than guess and get it wrong. Email the studio with the piece, size and destination and you will get a real number.
Returns
We do not accept returns for change of mind. That is worth stating plainly rather than leaving you to find it later.
The reason is that nothing here exists until you order it. There is no shelf of prints waiting; when an order comes in, that photograph is printed at that size, on that material, in that frame, for you. A returned piece cannot go back into stock because there is no stock — it would simply be a print nobody asked for.
So take your time before ordering. Use the room preview to see the piece at true scale on a wall, read the crop note if the piece is one that crops, and ask if you are uncertain between two sizes or three materials. That conversation is free and it is the part we would rather spend time on.
Damage and manufacturing defects
Different matter entirely. If your piece arrives damaged, or there is a fault in how it was made, we replace it at no cost to you. No return shipping, no restocking fee, no argument.
This one matters and it is easy to get wrong in the first five minutes of opening a box. Our lab requires the original packaging to process a damage claim — the carrier assesses how the piece was packed as part of deciding what happened to it. If the box and inner materials are gone, the claim cannot be made, and that would leave us unable to replace your piece even when we can both see it is damaged.
So: unpack carefully, keep everything, and hold onto it until you are satisfied the piece is sound.
How to report it
Within 14 days of delivery, email taylormayerart@gmail.com with:
- your order number
- photographs of the damage
- photographs of the packaging as it arrived, including the outer box
Fourteen days is the window because claims are time-limited further up the chain; report inside it and the replacement is straightforward. If something is wrong, tell us early rather than waiting to see whether it bothers you.
What is signed, and what is not
The certificate is hand signed. The print is not. That distinction is worth being exact about, because plenty of galleries are vague on it.
Your print is made to order and travels to you directly from the lab, so it never passes through the studio for anything to be added to it. Two of the three materials could not take a signature anyway — a signature cannot be written on the face of an acrylic or metal print without damaging the surface it is written on.
So what is signed is the Certificate of Authenticity: signed by hand, in ink, one for each piece, and posted to you separately from the print itself. It carries a unique certificate number, the title, where the photograph was made, the material and size you chose, and your order number. It is the document that says this piece is what it claims to be.
Every size is an open edition. Nothing is numbered, nothing is capped, and nothing closes — the certificate number is a record of your certificate, not a position in a limited run. See The Craft for how each material is made.

Terms of Sale
Last updated 19 August 2026
These are the terms you agree to when you buy a print from Taylor Mayer. They are written to be read, not to be impressive. If something here is unclear, ask before you order rather than after.
Who you are dealing with
Taylor Mayer is a fine art photographer based in Colorado, United States. Contact is taylormayerart@gmail.com and that address reaches a person.
What you are buying
A photographic print, made to order in the size, material and — for framed paper — the frame colour you chose. Every size is an open edition: it is not numbered, the edition is not capped, and it does not close.
Each print is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity, signed by hand and posted separately from the print. The print itself is not signed and not numbered — see Shipping & Returns for why.
Prints are shown on screen. Screens vary, and a photograph on a wall is not a photograph on a monitor. Where a piece must be cropped to fit the print proportions we say so on its page, with the exact percentage.
Prices, tax and payment
Prices are in US dollars and include shipping within the contiguous United States. Sales tax is calculated at checkout and added to the price shown.
Payment is taken by Stripe. We never see or hold your card details. If a price is displayed incorrectly we will tell you before taking payment, or refund you in full if it is discovered afterwards.
Ordering, and when we are actually committed
Nothing on this site is a binding offer. Your order is an offer to buy; the contract is formed when we accept it, not when your card is charged.
Payment is captured before we can see your delivery address. If you are outside the contiguous US, or if something is wrong with the order, we will contact you and either agree a way forward or refund you in full. We would rather return your money than ship you something we cannot honour.
Delivery
Shipping is free within the contiguous United States and is already in the price. Alaska, Hawaii, US territories, military addresses and international destinations are quoted individually — ask first.
Prints typically ship in four to six weeks. That is an estimate, not a guarantee. Your certificate travels separately and may arrive at a different time. Risk passes to you on delivery.
Returns, damage and defects
Made to order, so there are no returns for change of mind. Damage or a manufacturing defect is replaced free, and you must keep the original packaging for the claim to be possible. The full terms are on Shipping & Returns and they form part of this agreement.
Copyright stays with the artist
You are buying a print, not the picture. Taylor Mayer retains the copyright and all other rights in every photograph, including those you have bought.
You may own, display, resell and lend your print freely — it is yours. You may not reproduce, scan, copy, print, or make derivative works from the photograph, and you may not use it commercially, without written permission. Photographing your own wall and sharing it is fine and welcome.
Using this site
The photographs, text and design here are ours. Please do not scrape the site, copy the images, or attempt to interfere with it. Everything else is common sense.
Where our responsibility ends
If we get something wrong, our liability is limited to what you paid for the order. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited — including for death, personal injury, or fraud — and none of it affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, United States, and any dispute belongs in the courts there.
Changes
We may update these terms. The version that applies to your order is the one published when you placed it, and the date at the top tells you which that was.

Privacy Policy
Last updated 19 August 2026
Browsing this site collects nothing about you. There is no analytics, no tracking, no advertising pixel, no cookie banner because there are no cookies to consent to, and no form anywhere on the site — not even a mailing list signup. We learn who you are only if you buy something.
That is unusual enough to be worth stating first, and the rest of this page is the detail behind it.
When you are just looking
We store nothing. Your cart lives in your browser's memory and disappears when you close the tab. One thing nevertheless happens that you should know about:
Our host Vercel keeps standard server logs — IP address, page requested, time, browser — as every web host does. We use them to keep the site up, not to build a picture of you. That is the only record your visit leaves anywhere.
Loading a page here contacts this site and nothing else. There is no CDN, no font service, no embedded map, video or social widget, and no third-party script of any kind.
Until August 2026 the typefaces were served by Google Fonts, which meant your IP address was sent to Google on every page load. We have self-hosted the fonts and that request is gone. We are recording it here rather than quietly deleting the paragraph, because a privacy policy that only ever describes the present tense is one you cannot check anybody against.
When you buy something
Checkout is handled by Stripe, on Stripe's own pages. You give them your name, email address, delivery and billing address, possibly a phone number, and your card details. We never see or store your card details — they do not pass through our systems at all.
Stripe then tells us about the completed order, and we store:
- your name, email address and phone number if you gave one
- your delivery and billing addresses
- what you ordered, what you paid, and the tax
- your order number, and Stripe's references for the payment
We keep this because it is a record of a sale: to make and send your print, to answer you if something goes wrong, and because tax law requires us to keep records of what we sold and to whom.
Your IP address is stored as a hash, never as itself
When you start a checkout we record a salted, one-way hash of your IP address, so that one person cannot tie up the system with endless abandoned checkouts. It cannot be turned back into your address. We do not log raw IP addresses ourselves, and we do not use this for anything but abuse prevention.
Your browser also holds a short marker while you are at Stripe, so that returning to a cancelled checkout can tell you honestly what happened. It contains a reference and a time, nothing about you, and it clears when the tab closes.
Who else sees your details
| Who | What they get | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Stripe | Everything you type at checkout, including card details | To take the payment and calculate tax |
| Bay Photo, our print lab in California | Your name and delivery address, and what to print | They make the print and post it to you directly. The parcel is unbranded and carries nothing identifying them |
| Neon | Hosts the database the above is stored in | Infrastructure |
| Vercel | Hosts the site and its server logs | Infrastructure |
That is the entire list. We do not sell your details, we do not share them for advertising, we do not run a mailing list you could be added to without asking, and nobody else receives them unless the law requires it.
How long we keep it
- Order records — indefinitely. They are financial records and we are required to keep them. This includes your name and address as they appeared on the order.
- Anything else containing your details — 90 days. Queued notifications and similar working data are scrubbed of personal information on a schedule once they have served their purpose.
- IP hashes are removed with the checkout reservation they belong to.
What you can ask for
Write to taylormayerart@gmail.com and you can ask us to tell you what we hold about you, correct it if it is wrong, or delete it. We will do all three, with one honest exception: we cannot delete the record of a completed sale, because we are required to keep it. We can remove everything that is not part of that record.
Depending on where you live you may have specific legal rights over your data, including under the Colorado Privacy Act. We will honour them; you do not need to cite a statute to get a straight answer from us.
Children
This is not a site for children and we do not knowingly collect anything from anyone under 16.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it.

Chasing the
Last Light
I'm Taylor — a photographer who travels for the moment most people miss. The thirty seconds when the sun breaks over a Maasai ridge. The empty hour on a Venetian canal before the city wakes. The light that exists only once.
What began as a way to remember became an obsession with capturing places at their most alive. From the great predators of the Mara to the rainbow walls of Burano, every image was earned — through patience, early mornings, and a refusal to settle for the ordinary frame.
Each piece is made when you order it rather than sitting in a drawer waiting for a buyer. The print travels to you straight from the lab, so it is the Certificate of Authenticity I sign by hand and post separately — see what is signed.
Ask about new work
New editions are released as they are finished. If you would like to hear when that happens, send a note and you will be added to the list by hand.
